Course Etiquette
All golfers MUST check-in with the Pro Shop prior to golfing.
When golfing, it is your responsibility to stay WITH the group ahead of you – NOT to stay ahead of the group behind you.
Your round of golf always starts on hole number 1. It is a bonus to be ‘allowed’ to start on 10 and this is only with the permission of the pro shop. IN NO SITUATION can you interfere with the pace of play of golfers coming up nine.
Thank you for your cooperation.
The Club’s Dress Code is intended to maintain an atmosphere consistent with the tradition of golf.
All shirts must have a collar.
Appropriate footwear. Golf shoes with soft spikes.
Pants or shorts. No denim cutoffs.
Shirts must be worn at all times while on HCGWC property.
The player with “honours” should be ready to tee off first without due delay in the interest of pace of play.
When a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke, no one should talk, move, or be standing too close or directly behind the ball or hole.
If a player’s ball is found in an open, unstaked drainage ditch, the player may drop, within one club length of the
nearest point of relief on the fairway side of the ditch — no penalty.
Any player whose tee shot fails to reach the fairway may play their next shot from the drop zone at the bottom of the hill — penalty one stroke. The drop zone is not to be used if the player’s shot went out of bounds or into the water
hazard.
All players must proceed from the ninth green to the tenth tee without delay. Failure to do so will cause the player(s) to lose their place on the 10th tee.
A player may improve the lie by moving the ball 6 inches. This applies only on the fairway. (In some cases, 6 inches
would not be enough to get relief so the ball may be moved to the nearest spot of grass.) No penalty.
